While architecture upon land strives ever higher, designers in wetter tools of a world have been finding brand new ways to build underneath a waves. Underwater buildings aren't exactly common -- partly thanks to their enormous expense -- but there have been a couple of stellar examples of submerged structures that demonstrate how a trend like this could really take off. From the world's largest underwater restaurant in a Maldives to a village of luxury floating condos in Dubai that put beachfront property to shame, undersea buildings illustrate what can be done when we compound technology with architecture.

Developer Mojang might be best known for wildly popular and influential Minecraft, but it's no one-trick pony. Which brings us to Crown & Council, a studio's latest that, from a sounds of it, is a fast-paced strategy diversion in a vein of Risk or Civilization. In a tradition of Minecraft, a studio says that a diversion was developed entirely by a single person, Henrik Pettersson. It uses a charming 16-bit style of pixel art and maybe best of all, it's absolutely free upon Steam. Need something brand new to play over a weekend? Now you're all set.

Apple mandates new Watch apps 'must' work without an iPhone

Apple's laying the law down: Watch apps must operate without an iPhone nearby. In the blog post, the company mandates which anything submitted for App Store approval from this Jun 1st forward has to be the native app using watchOS 2. This should be the boon for anyone using the wearable during the run or workout where carrying the phone would be the hindrance. And ultimately, it'll result in higher quality applications which take full use of the device and what it's capable of rather than just being shoehorned to run on which OLED screen.

The "SkullConduct" setup was devised by university researchers in Germany and functions on the modified pair of Google Glass. Using the integrated bone conduction orator and microphone, the device played an imperceptible sound that was afterwards picked up by the microphone. A test device was able to correctly identify the user 97 percent of the time in the lab.

While the researchers originally envisioned the system as the way to keep unwanted users from accessing devices like Glass, Gizmodo thinks it could potentially be another TouchID for your skull. Imagine, if you will, the unfolding where you can unlock your phone by placing it opposite your ear. But, afterwards again, who actually takes phone calls anymore?

"We have the really complex kind of color theory system so they all obey rules, like leaves having complimentary colors compared to the grass and things like that," art executive Grant Duncan says in a new video. "And the same goes for silhouettes. So, if the planet's very hot, we'll have things like everything becomes the little bit more dusty out or you'll get more sharp shapes."

As players journey toward the core of No Man's Sky's universe, the creatures and landscapes will become more "unsettling," Duncan says. That sense of discovery and weirdness is the main feature which will drive players by the game -- not which Hello Games expects anyone to actually reach the core of No Man's Sky's universe.

Amazon Echo can now add events to your Google Calendar

The Echo has been able to read back your schedule for a while -- including shared Google calendars -- but the capability to actually add events is a pretty good addition. Whether or not that's easier for you than shouting "hey Siri" or "OK Google" and adding items without delay by your smartphone remains to be seen, but if Alexa is your digital assistant of choice, you'll definitely suffer this new feature.

The last few Alexa updates have been more focused on enhancing its smart home credentials. In late March, Amazon added the capability for Echo to control the Nest Learning Thermostat, and Lutron's connected lighting systems started working with the Echo earlier this month.

Bank's dodgy cost-cutting led to $80 million hack

Earlier this month, hackers attempting to take $850 million from Bangladesh Bank managed to only get away with $80 million. After an investigation into the breach, authorities determined which the culprits gained access thanks to $10 used switches used to network the bank's computers and the lack of a proper firewall. Transfers of the stolen funds were halted as the outcome of a spelling error, otherwise the heist could've been much worse.

Microsoft and Google agree to work out regulatory disputes

Both companies offering the news in identical but apart statements to Re/code, highlighting their "changing authorised priorities" and promised to drop any regulatory complaints. As Google put it: "Our companies contest vigorously, but we wish to do so upon the merits of our products, not in authorised proceedings." In alternative words, they devise to crush each alternative by building the many useful technology, rather than spending resources upon attorneys.

The attitude change comes after both companies shifted their leadership. Whereas Steve Ballmer and Eric Schmidt were ruthlessly vying for platform dominance, their replacements Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai have taken a kinder approach. In 2015, Nadella updated Microsoft's mission to "empower every person and every organization upon the planet to achieve more," even if that means doing it upon Android's platform. And with fewer threats to its platform, Google has even less reason to draw out old battles in court and even more reason to focus upon moving forward.
